Whether moving across town or across country, you'll find GREEN VALLEY, Arizona an active adult retirement community like no other. Green Valley has been identified numerous times as one of the "Best Communities to Retire" and as one of the "New Choice Towns to Retire".

Green Valley is located midway between Tucson and Nogales along side the Santa Cruz River. Residents & visitors experience the transition of seasons by the change of the leaves in the nearby pecan groves. Green Valley offers the near-by amenities of a larger city & international airport, Southwestern Spanish flavor and flair with the ambiance of a small town.
At an elevation of 2,900 feet, Green Valley is surrounded by rugged mountain ranges, clear night skies ideal for evening star gazing and nearly year-round sunshine. Our climate averages 300+ days of sunshine and an average daytime temperature of 80 and nighttime lows of 50s; making Green Valley a magnet for those who enjoy birding and hiking in Madera Canyon, golfing and other outside living activities. This is what retirement living should be about!
Green Valley is an unincorporated area with about 25,000 year-round residents and many more part-time winter visitors. Founded in 1964, a majority of Green Valley neighborhoods are age-restricted requiring at least one occupant to be 55 or better and no permanent occupant under 18. Growth in Green Valley is at a moderate to steady pace - with active adult new construction continuing in the neighborhoods of Quail Creek, Canoa Ranch and Las Campanas.
The access to and programming of recreational activities throughout the community is centered around Green Valley Recreation (GVR), a private nonprofit corporation the operates 13 recreational centers for 12,000 households and 20,000+ dues paying members. Many say that GVR and the state of the art recreation facilities were a determining factor in their choice to retire and relocate to Green Valley. GVR offers exercise & fitness facilities, arts & crafts classes, performing arts & theatre, organized social events, trips, special interest clubs, and so much more! The monthly publication Keeping Current provides detailed updated for members.
GVR is managed by a staff of professionals, led by an executive director, and governed by a volunteer board of directors elected annually to a 3-year term. Several standing committees meet regularly and make recommendations to the Board.
